From pfennig to million
In 1922 and 1923 the Papiermark collapsed. Prices rose faster than the Reichsbank could print notes. Towns issued emergency money again, now in high amounts: thousands, millions, later billions of marks. Some paper was valid for a single day. On 15 November 1923 the Rentenmark arrived. Inflation money ended. Many notes survived, not as wealth, but as proof of how fast money lost its value.
